Lough Rynn

An amazing old house on the shore of Lough Rynn in lovely Leitrim. Huge grounds and gardens, beautiful reception rooms and a generally magical place. It's a sister hotel of Kilronan Castle.

My favourite areas outside are the tree oposite the front of the hotel, especially in autumn, the back of the hotel looking down over the lake and walking though the walled garden a little walk away near the river. The bride and groom can avail of the golf buggy to save time, energy and muddy shoes.

It's a big pity if it rains as the ground are so nice but the huge windows indoors give a lot of natural light for beautiful photos also.

Liffey Valley House Hotel

This hotel is near Dublin in the heart of Leixlip. It's an old counrty house converted to a small hotel. The main area for photos is the walled garden located through the courtyard. The garden is really all you need for a variety of lovely shots while taking a short stroll.

Inside there are large windows and fireplaces and plenty of charm. The extended bar area has a lot of light for family photos if the weather is bad. There are plenty of interesting spots such as the entrance hallway with old floors and dark walls which can be used to great effect.

Kilkenny Court Hotel

This hotel is located just across the river from Kilkenny castle right in the heart of the city. It's a bit of a walk to the castle so it's better to visit the castle on the way to the hotel if you plan to take photos there. Do, if you can as it's spectacular.

If you can't make it to the castle it's still easy to get some great photos with the castle in the background across the river. The garden is also a good spot for family photos. The function room has lots of light with its big windows and it can be used in case of rain.

The Heritage, Kilenard

This five star hotel is renowned for its spa but it is also a great wedding venue. The main highlights are the huge windows at the front of the hotel and the staircase facing this. It's a great spot for a group photo.

There is a small garden to the front of the hotel which is limited for outside shots. Inside however, there is tons of light in the lobby and the bridal suite. Emo Court is nearby which I highly recommend for outdoor photos if there is time before arriving to the hotel.

The Grand Hotel, Malahide

The Grand in Maladhide is very near Malahide Castle and it is well worth stopping on the way at least for some photos of the bride and groom.
The hotel itself has grounds to the front which are perfect for formal photos, there's a lot of greenery and the sea in the background if the light is right.
The foyer or reception room both have a lot of natural light if photos outside are not an option. If there's time to take a trip up the the bridal suite (bit of a walk), it's worth it for the panoramic views of Dublin Bay.

Dunboyne Castle

Dunboyne Castle is an old country house turned into a new modern hotel while retaining the original house and features.
The front steps of the house is perfect for group shots as the light is pretty much perfect here in the summer.

In front of the house there are steps down to the lawn which has some lovely trees and a gazebo. Inside the old house is an elegant staircase. The newer part of the hotel also has an interesting staircase and tons of light if the weather is bad.

Druids Glen Marriott

This hotel is very close to Dublin in North Wicklow. The hotel itself is very modern and has a lot of light with some big windows.

At the back of the hotel there's a garden with some features such as what looks like a large sundial for some great photos. There's not a huge amount of space but enough for a good variety of shots. To the side of the hotel there's a good landscape across fields down to the sea.

On rainy days the foyer is a good area for the family photos as there's a lot of light.
